In fact, it is only by investing in aviation infrastructure on the ground in Haiti that we are able to do what we do in the sky.
While our biggest projects to date have been developing an airstrip at our base in Bombardopolis, as well as our current hangar construction project, we have also had the privilege to be involved in some other infrastructure projects over the years.
Through a variety of community partnerships (local landowners, government representatives, and nearby NGO's), we were able to establish an airstrip in Bombardopolis in 2020. The runway is currently 2120', however, we would like to extend this by 380', for a total runway length of 2500'. This will allow us to utilize the Cessna 207 to its fullest capacity, and provide added safety for takeoff and landing. We are seeking funding for costs associated with lengthening the runway, including heavy equipment operation (operators, fuel, etc.).
Hangar construction is underway at our base in Bombardopolis. Thanks to local labourers, the exterior walls, metal roof, and door are all up, however we require further funding to complete the interior construction and furnish the hangar. Not only will this hangar protect the aircraft from the elements (especially during hurricane season), but the vision is to create pilot and medic quarters on the mezzanine level, so that we can bring in pilots on rotation, and house the Haitian and expat medics and doctors supplied by our partner, HERO (Haitian Emergency Response Operations).
